Sitka Mermaid Festival

Held over five days in late August, this celebration of the sea includes a Mermaid Parade, seafood tastings and a two-day public market. Mermaid ballet and mermaid-singing contests are held alongside programs touting the town’s fledgling mariculture industry. Ever eaten seaweed? You can try a taste here.
