How Long to Spend

1 night

If you're driving The Alaska Highway into Alaska from Canada, Tok is the first major town you'll encounter, about 90 miles from the Canadian border. It makes a great first night in Alaska with numerous campgrounds, inns, and B&Bs. But it doesn't need to just be a layover. A flightseeing tour will take you over nearby Wrangell St. Elias National Park or Yukon-Charley Preserve.

Where will you go from Tok? Follow The Alaska Highway into Fairbanks, or head south on the Tok Cut-Off, where a junction can point you towards Anchorage or Valdez.
