Not looking for whitewater or rapids? How about something more mellow and scenic? Families look no further! This is your quick and easy family float raft trip. A perfect, fun, class II introduction to the world of rivers for youth, seniors, and beginners alike. This one to two-hour float trip is long enough for kids or mixed groups with a variety of abilities to enjoy the water. The float has stunning views of the rugged Talkeetna Mountain Range and the towering Chugach Mountain Range with its hanging glaciers and peaks all divided by this same great river, the Matanuska. The upper section is the Lionshead whitewater trip and this family float is the slower, lower section just downstream. Launching at the bridge-crossing, it’s swift and splashy and even has some fun waves for the kids.
About NOVA Alaska Guides
NOVA also has a whitewater rafting trip, Lion Head Run, which offers an equally scenic trip adjacent to the glacier and with several miles of rapids that will get the adrenaline pumping.
NOVA has been professionally guiding trips for more than 30 years. Whether you and your family are looking for a scenic float, or you want to take the kids on their first whitewater run, NOVA makes it easy to participate.
Founder Chuck Spaulding loves this area so much that he based his company out here. From the earliest first descents of challenging whitewater runs to perfecting riverside photos and campfires, he’s constantly refining his trips. And NOVA has the highest standards of safety, from river-rescue training for the guides to boat and gear options suited for changing river levels. So you can kick back and enjoy the scenic float, or dig in for the whitewater.
