Explore Moose Pass on a guided hike or snowshoe tour

How do Alaskans make it through the long winters? By getting outside and enjoying them! You can do the same with Moose Pass Adventures on an epic cold-weather snowshoe trek out of Moose Pass, a small town on the Kenai Peninsula, in the heart of the Chugach Mountains.

Extend the experience and camp out in a yurt to truly experience Alaska’s winter at its finest. Either way, you’ll be in an intimate group with a maximum of 6 people, and your snowshoe tour will be led by expert guides eager to share their knowledge of the area.

No snowshoe experience is needed and Moose Pass Adventures even provides top-notch equipment: snowshoes, hiking poles, weatherproof boot/shoe covers, warm gloves, and mittens.

The Tours

Wonders of Winter Snowshoe & Hiking Tour in Moose Pass

This 2.5-hour guided snowshoe tour in Moose Pass takes you onto trails and perhaps even across a frozen lake, as your guides fill you in on the area’s rich history and community. You’ll enjoy a warm drink and a snack while you’re out on the trail.

Secluded Alaska Winter Escape

This spectacular 2-day experience begins with a moderate snowshoe trek across frozen Trail Lake in Moose Pass, before you connect with the National Historic Iditarod Trail. Your destination is a rustic, handmade, Mongolian-style yurt on the shores of remote Grant Lake, where you’ll spend the night. Inside you’ll find two bunk beds (3 twins and one queen), a handmade spruce table with games and books, and an outhouse (there’s no running water). While you warm up and get cozy, your guides will prepare a delicious BBQ dinner. And after a good night’s sleep, they’ll cook up a hearty breakfast before your journey back to Moose Pass.

About Moose Pass Adventures

After guiding tours across North America, Owners JD and Jen settled in the Chugach Mountains. They’re passionate about guiding, and about sharing the area they call home. What started as a simple kayak rental operation grew into an adventure company offering guided excursions and a remote backcountry yurt camp so they can share this slice of Alaska with visitors.
