Traveling to Angoon

Angoon is located on Admiralty Island, about 55 miles southwest of Juneau. The only way to get to this Tlingit village is by charter boat, seaplane or ferry, all of which are most convenient from Juneau.

In summer, seaplanes fly in to Angoon three times a day. The 30-minute flight offers a great view of the isthmus that Angoon straddles between Chatham Strait and Kootznahoo Inlet. You’ll land on the water on the east side of Angoon and taxi to the floatplane dock looking out over Kootznahoo Inlet and Mitchell Bay. The dock is about a quarter mile from town.

From Juneau, the ferry is a five-hour trip, followed by a 3-mile trek into town. It runs twice weekly.
