Get ready to enjoy great food and incredible views. This fine-dining restaurant, in a cabin-like setting up on Sugarloaf Mountain, serves up both.
The farm-to-table menu features fresh seafood, including weathervane scallops and Alaskan oysters. And Chef Thomas Chapman knows what to do with them. Classically French trained, he has served as chef for Team Europe at the 2012 Ryder Cup and been a teaching chef for Sur La Table. His ethos is quality over quantity, only purchasing the finest quality seafood from small fishing operations.
The drinks menu also shines at the best handcrafted cocktail bar in Denali. Some craft cocktails are barrel-conditioned, which allow them to take on the rich characteristics of the wood. You’ll also find craft beers from local brewpub 49th State Brewing Co., as well as craft ciders. And wine? The 20 wines by the glass are served from a cruvinet—a unique temperature-controlled tap system.
Sit inside the cabin-like restaurant, with its floor made of reclaimed Douglas fir. Or head out to the outdoor patio, where you can gaze out at the Alaska Range, see Horseshoe Lake, and watch the railroad go by.
