Filmed over more than a decade, this award-winning film takes viewers from breaching humpbacks and swirling herring schools to the secret worlds of plankton and nocturnal seabirds that sustain the entire ecosystem. Guided by filmmaker Ben Hamilton’s personal narration and years of exploration, the film becomes more than a wildlife story—it’s a search for wonder, and an invitation to see Sitka with new eyes.

Produced by award-winning wildlife filmmaker Ben Hamilton, whose work has been featured by National Geographic, BBC, Discovery, Smithsonian, and PBS, the film combines world-class cinematography with a deep respect for place. Supported by partners like the Sitka Sound Science Center, the project was filmed entirely in Sitka, capturing moments that define the region’s wild character.

Exclusively Playing in Downtown Sitka

Sitka’s Hidden Wonders plays from May through September 2026 at two downtown venues in Sitka, Alaska. Weekday screenings are held at Centennial Hall, conveniently located at the cruise shuttle drop-off and other popular tours starting point. The venue is ADA compliant and seats more than 220 guests. On weekends, showings take place at the historic Coliseum Theatre, offering a classic cinematic experience a four minute walk from Centennial hall on Lincoln Street. Screenings run several times daily, with exact times posted at sitkawonders.com. Whether you visit before or after a tour, it’s an easy, all-weather way to experience Sitka’s wild side.
