This secluded cemetery is one of the few relics left of Sunrise, the booming community that was the jumping off point for thousands of prospectors on their way into the Kenai Mountains during the Turnagain Arm Gold Rush in 1896. Located off a narrow unmarked dirt road, the cemetery overlooks the river and has been restored to its original gold rush condition. The cemetery is adjacent to private property. Please be respectful.
