Denali (Mt. McKinley) Trail

Difficulty

Difficult

Denali is one of the coldest mountains in the world. Temperatures on the mountain can be as low as negative 40 degrees with winds of 80 to 100 miles per hour in the summer. The West Buttress, South Face and Muldrow Glacier routes are the most popular. You should travel in groups of four or greater and carry provisions for 2 weeks longer than you plan on being there. Each person going should be a highly skilled climber in their own right. The best time to climb is between early May and early July, because there isn't runoff from melting snow yet.
