MICA Guides Matanuska Glacier Glamping

Experience one of Alaska’s most extraordinary overnights: glamping directly on the Matanuska Glacier. On this unique trip—a collaboration between MICA Guides and Alpenglow Luxury Camping—you’ll fly to the glacier by helicopter out of Glacier View (about 2 hours north of Anchorage) and enjoy an exhilarating glacier adventure with deluxe, cozy accommodations.

The Experience

Your trip begins with a scenic flight aboard a four-seat helicopter, where everyone gets a window view, and land right on this spectacular river of ancient ice. From there, you’ll embark on a guided 1-hour glacier hike, where your guide will explain glacier dynamics as you explore the ice’s dramatic features and capture unforgettable photos.

Then settle into your spacious tent, where you’ll find a queen-size bed and a twin bed with thick down comforters, high-thread-count linens, plus chairs and space to walk around. The air outside may be chilly, but a small wood stove and warm slippers and parkas will help keep you warm. The camp also features a shared, high-tech “outhouse,” limited electricity for charging phones, and stunning views in all directions.

Your stay includes a hearty dinner and breakfast, featuring delicious options like homemade granola and reindeer sausage.
