Alaska’s most famous national park, Denali, is the stunning backdrop for this 8-day adventure. Get up close and personal with the park and the area surrounding it. You’ll come away with an understanding of what makes it so special—and, of course, lots of great photos. Travel by helicopter, raft, dog sled, train, and more, as you take in gorgeous scenery including Mt. Denali and have plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife along the way.

Itinerary
Check in to your Fairbanks accommodations along the rushing Chena River. Explore downtown Fairbanks at your leisure before meeting up with your group for some delicious snacks to kick off your adventure.

Drive to Denali National Park and begin your exploration in spectacular fashion—with a helicopter ride over Denali’s peaks and valleys, keeping an eye out for wildlife. Set down on the ancient river of ice known as Yanert Glacier, where you’ll be able to walk around. Fly back and check into your Denali lodging.

Start the day rafting on the Nenana River, gliding past glacial valleys and taking in the view of craggy mountain peaks as you watch for moose, caribou, and other wildlife along the way. In the afternoon, you’ll meet real Alaskan sled dogs at Husky Homestead and learn about their role in Denali National Park.

Travel deep into the famous park on a guided bus ride, stopping to snap photos of scenic vistas and any wildlife you may encounter. You’ll also go deep into the park’s natural history as you motor to mile 43 of the Park Road. Return to your Denali lodge for a relaxing evening.

Head off with your group for a hike on the Horseshoe Lake Trail, where you’ll experience panoramic views of the Nenana River and look for wildlife like beavers. Then it’s all aboard the Alaska Railroad’s GoldStar train for a scenic ride to the charming town of Talkeetna. Spend the evening exploring Talkeetna before settling into your lodge for the evening.

Today begins in truly spectacular fashion, with a helicopter flight that takes you over Mount Denali and out to a glacier for a truly unique perspective of the Alaska Range. Next up is a guided hike through Talkeetna’s lush forests, where you’ll watch for loons, moose, and songbirds.

Hop on a motorized riverboat and cruise through Denali State Park and the wild rapids of Devil’s Gorge, soaking up the stunning views and remote beauty of the wilderness. Wrap up the day with free time and dinner in Talkeetna.

Your final day includes a drive to Anchorage and a stop at the fascinating Native Heritage Center, where you’ll learn about Alaska’s Indigenous cultures through exhibits, art, and performances.
