AK Tripping

Hire a professional driver to take up to 4 passengers (plus luggage) anywhere within the Talkeetna/Seward/Soldotna/Kenai corridor—basically, anywhere within a 2.5- to 3-hour radius of Anchorage. And, they're open year round!

You’ll travel in a commercially insured Toyota Highlander, with luggage racks on top if you need them. Your driver will be either owner Brooks Patton or his wife—longtime Alaskans who can share local insights and suggestions along the way.

Hiring a private driver is more affordable than you think. In addition, you’ll get a more customized and accommodating trip than with a taxi or rideshare. And, since it will all be planned in advance, you won’t have to worry about whether you can get a ride or not.

The Services

Day Trips

AK Tripping will drive you for any day trip to places like Talkeetna, Seward, or Soldotna. If you have a tour scheduled, they’ll even wait while you do your excursion and then drive you back.

Whole Vacation Transport

You can hire AK Tripping as transportation for your entire trip, as long as it’s within the service corridor. They’ll drive you to each destination on your itinerary and even provide expert local commentary along the way (if you want!).

Cruise Transfers

Get away from the crowds and arrange for private transportation to or from your cruise ship in Whittier or Seward.

Specialty Services

Maybe you’re taking the train to Talkeetna and need someone to deliver groceries from Anchorage to your AirBnB; AK Tripping can do it. Why? While travelers can buy groceries in these towns, they won’t find the variety available in Anchorage. Also, groceries in small towns are often more expensive.

About AK Tripping

Owner and founder Brooks Patton spent most of his life in the tech sector as an entrepreneur. In early retirement he started exploring the gig economy, working for both Uber and Lyft. While driving for Uber, he recognized an underserved market. It’s difficult to get an Uber from Anchorage to anywhere outside of Anchorage. Additionally, additional stops along the way are an extra charge, which is a real shame since these drives are among the most beautiful in the country. Alaska should be enjoyed at your own pace! With that in mind, AK Tripping was born.

With AK Tripping you can stop for pictures as often as you like. If there is a side excursion you’d like along the way you can take the time to experience them if you choose, and AK Tripping will wait until your tour is finished. They can even provide recommended side excursions based on your trip and the time you have to travel. Morning arrival in Anchorage and a late afternoon cruise ship connection in Seward? Climbing Denali and need a lift to Talkeetna? Trip to or from Kenai? They’ve got you for about the same price as the other ride guys with four-letter names and with far superior ride accommodations.
