Life Aboard The M/V Discovery
On the main deck, a bright, relaxed lounge with large picture windows offers plenty of space to swap stories, watch for marine life, or simply enjoy the activity coming from the galley. Step outside and the full walk-around deck makes it easy to take in wildlife and glacier views.
On the lower deck, the Discovery features six guest cabins that sleep up to 12 travelers. Cabins are compact but comfortable, with upper and lower berths, small closets, and drawers for your gear. You’ll also find two shared bathrooms with hot showers.
Gourmet Meals
When evenings come, guests can kick back with a glass of wine before digging into Prince William Sound Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut, or local buttery and sweet Spot Shrimp, or perhaps a Beef Wellington to mix it up. Discovery Voyages is proud to serve the crown jewels of the salmon world each trip - Copper River salmon, which are highly coveted due to the high levels of healthy omega-3's.
Kayak, Hike, View Wildlife & More
Each day brings a mix of activities to choose from. You might slip into a kayak and paddle through iceberg-studded coves, take the zodiac ashore for a hike, or cruise to spots where the crew often finds whales, sea lions, sea otters, and other marine wildlife.
About Discovery Voyages
The company’s owner and operator, Captain Dean Rand, is a naturalist, master shipwright and marine mechanic who first came to Alaska more than 45 years ago to work the infamous Bering Sea crab fishery. He has been running tours on the Discovery exclusively in Prince William Sound since 1992 alongside his wife Meg. She’s been with Discovery since 2010 and is the person on the other end of the phone or emails, and is also the magician in the kitchen!
The M/V Discovery is distinguished among other vessels in the small cruise ship category by maintaining status as a U.S. Coast Guard inspected and certified passenger vessel. Her Certificate of Inspection (COI) assures you that our vessel has passed an extensive yearly inspection by the USCG and is in compliance with all the rules and regulations which allow us to carry passengers.
