Alaska species birds Pacific Loon 3 2109

Likely the most prevalent loon in North America, the Pacific Loon spends all but the summer months in coastal waters of the Pacific Ocean. It breeds on Arctic tundra lakes where it also raises its young. Like most other Loons, the Pacific Loon can hardly move on land and requires nearly 50 meters of water space for a running take-off.
