Canada Goose

Alaska species birds canada goose

One of the most familiar of the Goose family, the Canada Goose has a black head and white chinstrap. Believe it or not, this waterfowl was nearly driven to extinction in parts of North America and has made such a resounding recovery that it is now viewed by some to be a pest. Birds tend to choose mates of similar sizes in a process termed 'assortative mating'.
