Walrus Spirit Catcher, by Fredrick Anderson

This piece was done by Fred Anderson, an Aleut that still lives and works in his home community of Naknek. He is an accomplished graphic artist, painter, sculptor, mask maker and educator. This mask combines a contemporary design feel with traditional Yup'ik mask elements. The artist is Aleut, and lives in his home village of Naknek as a subsistance fisherman.
