On your hike you will experience incredible landscapes of the temperate rainforest and the lushness of the largest national forest in the United States. You’ll learn about identifying local plants, the biodiversity of flora and fauna, and the history and culture of the area. There will be plenty of time to stop and take in the vastness of the landscape, take photos and immerse yourself in the natural surroundings..

Owner and guide, Alaina, grew up hiking these trails and strives to go above and beyond in safety, service, and quality. As a lifelong Sitkan, she takes pride in her passion for the wilderness and the trails of her hometown and loves sharing her backyard with others!

Tongass Treks values safety above all else and makes sure to understand the fitness levels and preferences of each guest and to help pick the perfect trails just for them. While most trails are capped at 7 people due to regulations, a few options allow for up to 12.

Day hikes

These hikes, which range from 2 hours to 6 hours, explore popular trails like Herring Cove, Beaver Lake, the serene Mosquito Cove, or Indian River, which features a spectacular waterfall. Or take on the harder-to-access Harbor Mountain Alpine hike—unique due to its logistical challenges and limited season.
