Design-forward and eco-friendly, this 252-room boutique hotel in downtown Anchorage energizes the city with a unique blend of Alaskan culture and upscale comfort. Featuring top-tier amenities and personalized service, The Wildbirch makes the perfect home base for exploring both the city and the surrounding wilderness.
The hotel brings authentic Alaska to life in unique ways—like hallway art installations from local artists —and imbues it with contemporary style. Even the uniforms of the hotel staff have local touches, like leather name tags.
The hotel is a hangout for locals as well as travelers. Its location makes it easy to plug into Anchorage’s culinary, historic, and artistic treasures. But it’s also a gateway to the full spectrum of Alaska adventure. And when the wilderness beckons, a concierge will be on hand to help map out a plan and make it happen.
The hotel’s community focus extends to its sustainability commitment. The Wildbirch, created by restoring an existing building, uses cogeneration and prioritizes sustainable textiles, local products, and energy-efficient insulation. There’s even charging for electric vehicles.
Guest Rooms
The Wildbirch Hotel offers contemporary rooms and suites designed for comfort and inspiration, featuring plush bedding, modern amenities, and locally inspired art. More than just a place to stay, each room connects you to Anchorage’s vibrant downtown and the vast Alaskan wilderness beyond.
Thoughtful details, like the topography of Mt. Denali carved into the headboards and artwork from local artists, immerse guests in the rhythm of Alaska. Retro mini-fridges and espresso makers offer design-forward touches, while digital keys and streaming-equipped TVs plant guestrooms clearly in the modern era. About a third of the bathrooms have tubs; all feature Jonathan Adler and Lather toiletries.
Local Tip: For an amazing view of the ceremonial start to the Iditarod, book a room—ideally on the third floor—that looks out onto 4th Avenue.

Crimson serves Alaska favorites with a Pan-American Latin twist
Dining
- Crimson. The main restaurant, serving three meals a day, spins fresh ingredients into Alaska favorites with a Pan-American Latin twist and features flavors that are at once bold and comforting. The restaurant has several distinct zones, depending on the experience you’re after. Sit in the back near the big picture windows overlooking Cook Inlet (and Mt. Denali on a clear day!) for a more elevated atmosphere, opt for a seat in the more casual front, a stool near the bustling bar, or grab a table on the outside deck.
- Undertap. Below the restaurant you’ll find Undertap Brewery, created in partnership with local brewer Midnight Sun which crafts beer exclusively for the hotel. Sip as you sample the bar menu.
- Canteen. Grab a coffee to enjoy in your room, to go, or hang out on the outdoor sidewalk patio space. You can also order coffee, drinks, or food from the outside window and relax as Anchorage bustles around you.
Conferences, Weddings, and Events
With 5,200 square feet of flexible meeting and event space in six different venues across three floors, ideal for private buyouts, The Wildbirch is the perfect venue for any event. The Kenai River Ballroom, on the top floor, features sweeping views of the Cook Inlet and downtown, while the Kenai River Terrace is an open-air event space with views of Cook Inlet. Another conference room and a boardroom round out the meeting spaces. Groups can also reserve the Undertap Tasting Room, the Copper River Private Dining Room, and the Crimson Terrace, which features stunning waterfront views.
The Mission
Beyond upscale accommodations and top-tier service, The Wildbirch Hotel is a steward of Alaska culture and the local community. Fostering those connections begins with sustainability efforts that include using cogeneration and featuring local products. Partnerships, which deepen the hotel’s ties with the community, include iconic events like the Iditarod, Anchorage International Film Festival, Fur Rondy, and the winter solstice.
The Future
The Wildbirch Hotel’s vision is to become a true pillar of the community in downtown Anchorage—a home for travelers and locals alike that celebrates local culture and environment while helping to protect them for generations to come.
