According to the Audubon Society, two of the most iconic and photogenic birds of coastal Alaska - the belted kingfisher and great blue heron - are spotted fishing in this stream location. The bridge crossing Spasski is a good location to pull over and look.

From Hoonah, take the Airport Road 3.4 miles past the airport to where the road becomes Kennel Creek Road 8502/8508. Turn left at the junction with Whitehorse Harbor Road (Forest Service Road 8530) at mile 2.1 and drive 11 miles to the road bridge crossing Spasski Creek. Park alongside the road near the bridge.

Alaska Seaplanes flies from Juneau to Hoonah daily. A one-way fare for the 15-minute flight is around $100.

Alaska Marine Highway System makes regular stops in Hoonah. A one-way fare for a passenger is around $60.
