This airy and very popular 16 x 18 log cabin enjoys exceptional access inside Eagle Beach State Recreation Area about 15 miles up the coast from Juneau on the island-rich Favorite Channel of Lynn Canal. With a wheelchair accessible ramp and a covered front porch adjacent to parking, the cabin is a great base to explore accessible nature loops, or beachcomb and watch for marine wildlife such sea lion and whales, birds (like bald eagles) and other critters in the salt marsh and tide flats (like bears targeting a run of chum salmon.) Whether sunny or raining, the old growth coastal setting is off-the-scale gorgeous, the essence of coastal Southeast Alaska.

Facilities

The cabin has a very large downstairs sleeping platform and a sleeping loft up a ladder. Other amenities include a table with benches, a cabinet with a counter for cooking and a kerosene heater. Outside is a fire ring and a picnic table. The 590-acre recreation area features two reservable picnic shelters, RV and primitive camping, a boat launch and hiking trails.
