Sailaway Alaska Thru keyhole Chris Reynolds

Head out onto the shimmering Alaska waters under power of sail when you go on a personalized chartered journey with Sailaway Alaska, out of Seward.

Set Sail from Seward

Charter the company’s sailboat for a day trip, an overnight, or up to 5 nights and work with the owners to craft the perfect experience for you and your group (and kids are welcome!). The beautiful 45-foot boat gives you access to places you wouldn’t get to see otherwise. And you set the pace: where you go, what you want to do—even when you want to eat breakfast.

Seward has winds that make it one of the best sailing destinations on the planet. Be as involved as you like in the sailing process; your captain can handle the boat alone, but he’s also a passionate teacher when it comes to the art of sailing.

About the S/V Sailaway

You’ll be onboard a 45-foot Jeanneau Sun Odyssey that’s rated for open ocean travel. The boat has plenty of indoor and outdoor space, with 3 cabins, 2 heads, a well-equipped galley, spacious sitting area, and comfy deck. Cabins offer privacy, room for storage, and cushiony beds.

On day trips, you’ll enjoy lunches like salmon salad sandwiches with sides and a variety of soft drinks and water, along with snacks like chips and nuts. On overnights, you can outline your preferences and sit down to dishes like a fresh catch of the day.

Choose Your Adventure

Resurrection Bay Day Tour

This day trip runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., includes lunch, and is ideal for groups up to 6 people. The itinerary is up to you! Sail around remote Fox Island, or hop off and do a beach walk. For the best chance of seeing wildlife, your captain can select the best route to look for whales, sea lions, puffins, otters, and more.

Kenai Fjords multi-day

The world is truly your oyster. Take a 2- to 5-night expedition and work with your captain to see what you want to see. With 3 days, for example, a popular option is to visit Aialik Glacier, where—unlike the big tour boats—you can hang out as long as you like with the motor off, just watching Alaskan nature go by. Or head to a cove with no other boats to enjoy the sound of the birds and the water, or get off and do a hike.

One-way Seward to Whittier (Or Reverse)

This 5-day cruise is a spectacular journey that gives you enough time to relax and soak up the scenery and wildlife as you sail to areas of the state most never get to see.
