Port Chilkoot Beach

Site of the town’s annual New Year’s Day Polar Bear Dip, Port Chilkoot is the favorite beach for local children and families for its proximity to parking and a restroom. It’s a place to see and be seen. Located in Fort Seward at the foot of the Port Chilkoot Dock, this beach also straddles giant cruise ships that tie up to the dock’s end on some summer days. Swim with caution. Frigid waters can be quickly paralyzing.
