Muldrow Glacier

What you're able to see of the Muldrow Glacier from the park road is actually just the tip of a 32 mile long river of frozen ice. The Muldrow Glacier is the park's longest and it is a great example of the power these behemoth ice masses have on the landscape. Much of the lower reaches of the ice are covered in dirt and rocks that have been scoured off of the neighboring mountains on the slow journey from Denali's (Mt. McKinley's) flank. Smaller vegetation has managed to take hold in the thin layer of soil that covers some sections of the ice.
