While Eklutna Lake lies just 45 minutes from Anchorage, it feels like a world away—you won’t even find cell phone service. Paddle out onto water that flows from the gorgeous glacier at the lake’s end and take in the breathtaking, snow-capped peaks that surround you.

You don’t have to stop with kayaking! Lifetime Adventures also offers options for biking and hiking, and you can combine all 3 activities into a truly unforgettable Alaskan day.

Adventures

Kayak Rentals

Explore the shimmering lake’s waters on your own by renting a single or double kayak for 2, 4, or 8 hours (or overnight if you’ve reserved a public use cabin). No experience is needed, but if you’re a beginner or want to improve your paddling skills, you can take a 90-minute lesson, which also includes an hour-long rental.

Half-day Guided Kayaking

Have a professional guide show you around gorgeous Eklutna Lake on this 4-hour tour, sharing its history and secrets along the way.

On this unguided tour, you’ll set off in a kayak and paddle around 8 miles to the end of the lake, taking in the gorgeous scenery around you. Once you reach your destination, you’ll find full-suspension mountain bikes awaiting you for the 9-mile ride back along some of the area’s great trails.

Bold Ridge Kayak Hike & Bike

Combine the area’s most popular sports into a full day of adventure. Start by paddling your kayak out across shimmering Eklutna Lake for about 5 miles. Pull into shore and take a 7-mile hike along the Bold Ridge Trail, which affords a stunning view of the entire Eklutna Valley, including the lake and glacier, and enjoy a packed lunch. (Hint: Keep an eye out for mountain goats.) Then hop on a full-suspension mountain bike for the fun, 5-mile ride back.

Half-Day Guided Combo Tour

Don’t have a full day? Take 4 hours and pick 2 of the area’s 3 popular sports to experience: hiking, biking, and kayaking. You’ll enjoy the two activities with a professional guide and a packed lunch along the way.

Overnight Kayak/Camp/Bike

Make the adventure last longer—spend the night camping in the Alaskan backcountry. You’ll start with a fantastic kayak trip across the lake, then set up camp with your professional guides and enjoy a salmon dinner. The next morning you’ll bike back on the area’s great trails.
