Description

The Joe Thompson Public Use Cabin is a small, two-room rehabilitated log cabin complete with wood stove, table, chairs, sleeping bunks (without pads), and a nearby outhouse. There’s no electricity or water in the cabin; water is available from the lake, but should be treated. The cabin is ideal for fishing, wildlife viewing, kayaking, and hiking. The only maintained trail outside of Port Alsworth, the Portage Creek Trail, begins at the cabin. Follow the trail across Portage Creek for three miles into the alpine tundra. From the end of the trail, explore for miles along an alpine ridge overlooking Lake Clark.
