Set on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula, Hibernation Station is a 15-room inn with a cozy, rustic feel that makes for a comfortable home base when exploring this iconic area. Located near the edge of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and close to the Kenai and Moose rivers, the inn puts you close to amazing fishing, hiking, paddling, and wildlife viewing.
A Comfortable Stay
Each private room features 2 full-size beds and a private bathroom, and can accommodate up to 4 guests. Extra beds are available if needed.
Enjoy complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby; outside, you’ll find a grill, patio, table, chairs, and benches. There’s also a restaurant next door.
The inn is owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team who love interacting with guests. For them, the inn is a labor of love: They spend more than a year thoroughly renovating the property, including new beds and flat-screen TVs, before opening in 2024. Most people stay two to three nights.
Adventures at Your Doorstep
Fishing is a major draw for summer guests, who also come for hiking, paddling, and other outdoor adventures. The owners are especially interested in introducing travelers to the area’s canoe routes, an often-overlooked way to explore the Kenai Peninsula. A nearby outfitter offers kayak, canoe, and boat rentals, making it easy to get out on the water.
Winter visitors come for ice fishing, cross-country skiing, snowmachining, and other cold-weather adventures.
Wildlife is part of the experience, too. Moose are frequently spotted around the property, and caribou occasionally pass through. During the summer months, the grounds are surrounded by gorgeous wildflowers.
