Sounds Wild: Rock Fish

By midday, fishing boats have returned with their catch. Walk over to the fish cleaning tables to see halibut, salmon, and other quarry from the deep. One in particular is very interesting: the yellow-eyed Rockfish. They are found in saltwater resting and feeding along steep rocky slopes. They are hard to see in the wild unless you scuba dive. However, in the fresh fish markets of Seward and at the small boat harbor fish cleaning tables, you can see the day’s catch, which usually includes rock fish.
