Your 10:30am floatplane lifts off from Anchorage for the 70-mile flight northwest to Wilderness Place Lodge. After a chef-prepared lunch and cabin check-in, spend the afternoon fishing with your personal guide. After breakfast at the lodge and optional morning fishing, depart at 11:30am for your return flight to Anchorage (landing around 1pm). Chinitna Bay sits at the southern tip of Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, where brown bears gather to feast on sedge grasses, clams, and late-summer salmon. Your flight from Anchorage takes about 1.5 hours each way, with your pilot pointing out mountains, glaciers, volcanoes, and wildlife below. You'll land on a remote beach near Bear Mountain Lodge to meet your guide, who'll share stories about the resident bears and their families as you travel by customized 4WD vehicle to where the action is. Watch these massive animals dig for clams, lounge on the beach, graze in meadows, and wade into the bay. This six-hour adventure returns you to Anchorage at 8pm.
