At Camp McCarthy, luxury meets rugged Alaska
Surround yourself with serene wilderness and warm comforts of home at Camp McCarthy, where luxury meets rugged Alaska. This exclusive, intimate retreat offers just four spacious canvas wall tents, each set on handcrafted log platforms with sweeping views of the river, mountains, and valley.
Inside your cozy tent, you’ll find a plush queen-size bed with an ultra-warm down comforter, thick blankets, hot water bottles for crisp nights, and large screened windows that fill the space with natural light and fresh air. A bug-proof screen door keeps insects out, while your covered cedar deck invites you to spot wildlife or simply relax and enjoy the wilderness views.

Grand Pavilion & Hot Showers
Your stay includes a grand pavilion with hot showers, sinks, food storage space, a campfire circle, a cornhole game, and a private nature trail. Guests are welcome to bring snacks and quick, ready-to-eat meals; however, there are no cooking facilities at Camp. Water kettles are provided for making hot drinks and filling hot water bottles.
Explore Wrangell St. Elias National Park
Just two miles from Camp McCarthy lies the end of the McCarthy Road, where you’ll cross the footbridge to reach the ghost town of McCarthy and the historic Kennicott Mill site. From here, you can set out on glacier hikes, explore rich mining history, or simply soak in the unique charm of these remote Alaskan landmarks. Back at camp, wander the private nature trail on the riverbank, then end your day gathered around a campfire with firewood provided while enjoying the epic mountain and river valley views.
