The audio tours are the creation of a longtime Alaskan and English professor who spent 10 years as a tour guide in Denali National Park. He goes by the pseudonym “Gunnar,” which honors Gunnar Kaasen, a dog sled musher that delivered diphtheria serum to Nome to save the town from an epidemic. The route would later become the world-famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race.
