Whimbrels, like the spotted sandpiper, are a far ranging shorebird. The are found throughout the northern hemisphere during the warm months and throughout the southern hemisphere during out winter. They are adept hunters with a long curved bill that is best suited for digging meals out of tight crevises and deep sand. They are also expert flyers often making journeys of up to 2500 miles - nonstop!
