Long-tailed Jaeger

The smallest of the jaeger family, the Long-tailed Jaeger is best identified by two especially long tail feathers that extend 5-10 inches beyond its tail during the mating season. They are a mostly solitary bird sticking mainly to the northern reaches of the Arctic. Outside of the breeding season they spend most of their time over open ocean water.
