Connecting with Tenakee's Past

In the mid-1800s, Tenakee began attracting miners and fishermen to its hot springs during the winter months. Later, a saltery, canneries and the logging industry all made an impact on the population of Tenakee, whose older buildings are still in use. They serve as a window into this island’s history of the last 160 years.
