This is a popular spot for summer tour buses and fall berry pickers and hunters. Look for geologic formations including white marble, schist and quartzite. There are scenic views of the mountains as the road starts to descend from Polly Summit to the valley of the Fortymile River. The Fortymile River got its name because its mouth was forty miles below Fort Reliance, an old trading post near the confluence of the Yukon and Klondike Rivers.
