Side creeks tumble down steep valleys as they rush towards Eagle River. Each creek has its own color and temperature. This photo was taken several hundred yards up Icicle Creek, which flows into Eagle River 5.5 miles from the visitors center. This is about as far up Icicle Creek as you can go without bushwhacking. Tributary creeks carve out canyons and rocky valley floors that can be easier to walk through than the surrounding forest.
