It may be the same locomotive pulling all the cars
on the scenery-rich ride from Anchorage to Fairbanks,
but Gray Line of Alaska's
McKinley Explorer cars offer a different experience from the others: Alaska
Railroad and Princess
Rail. While many passengers on these
cars are on a cruise-tour package, independent
travelers can still book seats for this comfortable,
amenity-laden service in a double-decker domed
car.

and you'll be riding the rails in
the largest domed car ever made.
Every seat takes advantage of the
360-degree dome view, and all of
them face forward (a plus for those
who don't like riding backwards).
In these cars, too, you'll also have
the benefit of lots of square footage
per passenger. The glass is high
overhead and there's plenty of leg
room. Around you, you'll find wide
isles, custom sculptures by native
Alaskans, and great service.
When it's time to dine, go downstairs
to the seating area. With lots of space
and only two sittings, you'll be able
to eat at a convenient time. Depending
on the leg you are on they serve breakfast,
lunch and dinner. There is bar service
under the dome from the friendly bar
keep or in the dinning room.
And as you travel, take advantage
of the in-seat entertainment system.
Gray Line of Alaska has wired every
seat so that you can listen to music
or recorded narration as you drink
in the endless scenery. Your car
manager will also be your tour guide.
