Anchorage Aurora Quest

Noted by Iceland Air’s Stopover magazine as one of Anchorage’s “Hidden Hot Spots,” this is the city’s longest-running northern lights photography tour.

As our nights get darker, the aurora borealis becomes visible. Learn how to photograph the northern lights among mountains, coastal landscapes, and boreal forest. An Alaskan, professional photographer instructor/guide will transport you to a variety of locations that are optimal for aurora viewing. Non-photographer guests are welcome. If you don’t have a camera, still enjoy the northern lights with a hot beverage under a blanket and have your picture taken with these dancing lights!

Running Tour When Conditions are Best

Viewing the northern lights is never guaranteed, but Alaska Photo Treks monitors both cloud and aurora forecast conditions to determine when is the best time to run the tour. Each day, they update a Today’s Aurora Report to provide forecast and indicate whether the tour is running.
