Facilities

2 single plywood bunks, 2 double plywood bunks, Table and benches, Oil stove (requires #1 diesel, not provided), Cooking bench, Broom, Outhouse toilet, 14ft aluminum skiff with oars (flotation devices not provided). Water available from Kegan Creek. Treat all water before using.

30 air miles (48 km) from Ketchikan, 51 miles (82 km) from Craig, 1/2 mile (1 km) from Moira Sound along Kegan Creek, 200 yards (185 m) downstream from Kegan.

Access

Float plane or boat with 1/2-mile hike from Kegan Cove cabin.

Terrain

Generally flat with coastal Sitka spruce-western hemlock forest.

Special Features

Cabin is on Kegan Creek near outlet of Kegan Lake. Salmon runs draw anglers, black bear to creek. 1/2-mile trail along the creek connects cabin to Kegan Cove and to Kegan Lake. Watch fish or try to catch salmon, steelhead, trout from trail. Bears, eagles, gulls and a variety of other birds frequent area.

What To Bring

Your own #1 diesel fuel (highest setting = 0.1 gal/hour), personal flotation devices, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cooking stove, lantern, pots, pans, plates, utensils, food, toilet paper, garbage bags, and fire starter. It's a good idea to bring your own water.
