16ft x 18ft yellow cedar/Sitka spruce. Original cabin design by Wood Cuts, Inc. of Thorne Bay, AK. Cabin constructed on site by SAGA volunteer crew 2010.

2 single plywood bunks, 2 double plywood bunks, Woodstove, wood provided but not guaranteed, Cooking bench, shelves, cupboard space, Table and benches, Broom, Outhouse toilet. Water available from Kegan Creek. Treat all water before using.

Location

On salt water at Moira Sound, 30 air miles (48 km) from Ketchikan, 51 miles (82 km) from Craig.

Terrain

Flat with coastal Sitka spruce, western hemlock forest. Up to 100ft (30 m) of exposed rocks, tide flats in front of cabin at low tide.

Special Features

Cabin in protected cove in Moira Sound. Ocean fishing, stream fishing, viewing scenery and wildlife, beachcombing. Salmon runs draw anglers, black bear to Kegan Creek. 1/2-mile trail along the creek connects Kegan Cove to cabin on Kegan Creek and to Kegan Lake. Watch fish or try to catch salmon, steelhead, trout from trail. Bears, eagles, gulls and a variety of other birds frequent area.
