Rustic style 12ft x 14ft Pan-Abode log cabin.

Facilities

2 single plywood bunks, 2 double plywood bunks, Table and benches, Oil stove (uses #1 fuel oil, NOT provided), Cooking counter, Food cupboard and shelves, Broom, Outhouse toilet, 14ft aluminum skiff with oars and NO life jackets. Water is available from the lake. Treat all water before using.

Location

48 air miles (77 km) southeast of Ketchikan on the mainland east of Mink Bay.

Access

Float plane. May be inaccessible in fall, winter and early spring due to the frozen lake surface (float planes cannot land). Humpback Trail does NOT access the cabin.

Spectacular view on high alpine peaks with sheer granite walls.

Special Features

Spectacular views of high alpine peaks with sheer granite walls. Cabin has the feel of complete solitude, but you are not alone. A commercial lodge is located at the southeast end. You can row to the Humpback Creek trailhead and enjoy the hike to saltwater (the trailhead is located at the north edge of a large log jam near the west end of the lake). Excellent fishing for dolly varden and cutthroat trout.
