How far – and how fast – would you run for a gold nugget? That’s the prize on the line for top finishers in Nome’s annual Gold Dust Dash, an early morning 5K along the Bering Sea Shoreline. Part of the challenge is finding firm footing in the wet sand, while staying out of the waves crashing on shore.

The Gold Dust Dash offers an energetic kick off to Nome’s Midnight Sun Festival, the annual celebration of the summer solstice and 21 hours of daylight. The Gold Dust Dash is the first of many fun events (and perhaps the most lucrative, as there’s also a gold nugget for a lucky raffle winner).

Register the day of the race, on the beach east of Nome. Sponsored by the Norton Sound Health Corporation CAMP Department.
