The Chart Room Restaurant has been a fixture at the end of the famous Homer Spit since 1958. Today, this full-service eatery and lounge features delicious cuisine made with local ingredients and all with an Alaskan twist. But the food isn’t the only star here: You’ll also find a unique nautical decor (including a 10-foot-tall ship’s wheel at the entrance to the dining area) and a jaw-dropping view. Big picture windows reveal a stunning landscape out over the shimmering waters of Kachemak Bay and the snow-capped mountains beyond.

The menu is focused on local, sustainable seafood and locally grown produce from Homer’s farms. Standouts include oysters, clam chowder, king crab legs, and fish and chips. Or sample a Chart Room specialty, the “Halibut Iliamna”—seared halibut topped with 2 ounces of crab and artichoke dip with a saffron risotto and lemon cream sauce. You can also order up a delicious burger or a 14-oz USDA prime ribeye steak, cooked to your liking on the alderwood-fired grill.

Come back in the morning to appreciate the iconic view in a different light and enjoy a sumptuous breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, and fresh Belgian waffles cooked to order. On your way out, stop by the espresso bar for a cup of java to go, or order one tableside to enjoy with your breakfast.

Then return in the evening to enjoy a drink in The Chart Room Lounge; you can even linger there for dinner and enjoy the same menu as the main restaurant.
