On the north side of the park along the edge of the Chena River, sits Alaska Outdoor Rentals & Guides providing one of Fairbanks’ few, outdoor family adventure activities. Alaska Outdoors rents kayaks, canoes, and bicycles for half-days, a day, or by the week. In addition, they outfits adventurers and hunters for wilderness, fly-in trips, they have a retail store for paddling gear, and they are the local dealer for Thule cargo racks.

Alaska Outdoors’ most popular adventure is a 2-hour float from their store, down the Chena River to the Pump House, a National Historic Landmark with a restaurant, saloon, and a deck that overlooks the river. It is a popular destination for locals looking for a leisurely afternoon float, and for visitors looking for a unique view on Fairbanks life. Longer paddling trips are also an option depending upon your skill and interests.

The cove at Alaska Outdoors is also a popular destination for locals on hot, Fairbanks summer days. (Did you know that Fairbanks can reach temperatures in the 90’s during our endless summer days?) Check out the ducks while you’re visiting, but no matter how temped you may be, please don’t feed the ducks.
