Youth-Only Fisheries in Southcentral

Youth-only fisheries are open only to anglers 15 years of age or younger. Anglers 15 years of age or younger do not need a sport fishing license, but DO NEED a harvest record card.

A free harvest record card is available at ADF&G offices and most license vendors. Immediately upon landing a king salmon 20” or longer, a rainbow/ steelhead trout 20” or longer, or any species of shark, fill out the harvest information on the card. You must use ink.

Seward, Alaska: First Lake Fishery

First Lake in Seward is open for four consecutive days beginning the third Thursday in May (Contact Anchorage Sport Fish for more information 907-267-2218).

Anchorage, Alaska: Campbell Creek Youth-Only King Salmon Fishery

Anglers 15 years of age and younger may fish for king salmon on Campbell Creek between Dimond Boulevard and the Old Seward Highway between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00p.m. daily on the last Saturday and Sunday of June each year (Contact Anchorage Sport Fish for more information 907-267-2218).

Seward, Alaska: Seward Lagoon (King Salmon Fishery)

The Seward Lagoon and lagoon outfall stream are open to king salmon fishing the third weekend in June and the second weekend in July. Single-hook, artificial lures, and bait are legal. The bag and possession limit is two fish (Contact Anchorage Sport Fish for more information 907-267-2218).

Seward, Alaska: Seward Lagoon (Silver Salmon Fishery)

The Seward Lagoon and lagoon outfall stream are open to coho salmon fishing the last weekend in August and the first weekend in September. Single-hook, artificial lures, and bait are legal. The bag and possession limit is two fish (Contact Anchorage Sport Fish for more information 907-267-2218).

Homer, Alaska: Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon

Youth fishing zones established for persons 15 years of age or younger: the first Saturday in June, and the first and third Saturdays in August (Contact Homer Sport Fish for more information 907-235-8191).

Mat-su Area – Fish Creek

Anglers 15 years of age and younger may fish for all species, except king salmon, in those waters from ADF&G markers ¼ mile upstream from knik-Goose Bay Rd. Fishing is allowed only between 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily on the first Saturday and Sunday in August each year. During 2012, this will be August 4-5.
