Subalpine Daisy/Coastal Fleabane

Erigeron peregrinus
Asteraceae/Aster Family

This species grows in moist coastal meadows and subalpine slopes. The single stems are up to 20" tall with oblong to lance-shaped leaves at the base. Each plant has a single daisy-like flower with a yellow center and many tiny pink, white or purplish petals.

The common name fleabane comes from a belief that the dried plants repelled fleas.
