Sitka Blacktail Deer

Sitka Blacktail Deer

The Sitka Blacktail Deer is actually a subspecies of the much more common Mule Deer of western North America. It takes its name from the island of Sitka in southeast Alaska even though it can be found throughout much of the coastal rainforests of southeast Alaska and northern British Columbia. An adept swimmer, the Sitka Blacktail continues to habitate new islands as it periodically is seen swimming across ocean channels.
