Northern Fur Seal

Northern Fur Seal

Northern Fur Seals are large animals that reach 5 ft and 700 lbs. Females are regularly 30-40% smaller than males although their appearances are similar. As their name suggests, the Fur Seal has a very thick fur made up of a fine, cream-colored underfur that is shielded by longer guard hairs and, on males, a thick mane on its back. Both their front and back flippers are bare of fur, a distinction that helps with identification.
